What to Expect
Reawaken to vitality
Each day unfolds in a balanced rhythm of intelligent practice, learning, time in nature, and restorative sessions—creating space to reconnect with your inner joy.
Expect comprehensive lectures, pranayama sessions, restorative immersions, and hikes through Andalusia's forests and rivers, along with moments of silence designed to support integration and real transformation.
Pranayama
The yogic breathwork tradition
Just as a river breathes life into a parched valley, the breath moves through body, mind, and spirit, renewing every layer of our being.
Pranayama is one of the most valuable tools in the Yogic tradition for influencing the mind. It prepares the ground for meditation, strengthens the nervous system, and leads to an exquisite state of stillness. Through breathwork, we cultivate mental clarity, steadiness, and a deeper connection to inner quiet.
Restorative Yoga
Moving away from intellect and towards intelligence
Deep rest is essential for vitality. Restorative Yoga offers supported relaxation that refines awareness and amplifies natural energy. Its slow, grounded pace helps the body shift into a calmer physiological state, encourages self-inquiry, and allows tension to release without force.
In today's demanding world, learning to relax while remaining aware is transformative. Practiced regularly, Restorative Yoga rejuvenates the system and supports healing during stress, illness, injury, or busy periods—restoring physical, emotional, and energetic wellbeing.

The Teacher

Adventurous in her nature, Lidiya lived and worked in many countries before finally settling at Suryalila Retreat Centre in 2014.
Her background as a sustainable tourism management specialist contributed to creating the adventure and yoga retreat where she combines the love for the outdoors and spending time in nature with the strong desire to share what yoga gave her in life—inner strength, joy within and radiant health.
She has been teaching and leading retreats at Suryalila since 2015. Also, worked as a marketing manager and was personal assistant to the director of Suryalila.
"In depth yoga workshops combined with unique adventures in hidden natural gems every day, make her retreats one of a kind."
The purpose of our nature themed retreats is to create an environment for inner and outer wellbeing to flourish. Through yoga practices that guide you deeply inward and nature based activities, Lidiya aims to help people find freedom, inspiration and deep nourishment.
Lidiya is an experienced teacher leading various yoga retreats, community classes and most recently, advanced training modules. Yoga has been an inseparable part of Lidiya's life since discovering the practice in 2006 and teaching from 2014.
People often find her classes to be extremely inspiring and nurturing. They are vigorous and energising, and at the same time balanced with more gentle and calming sequences. Her guidance intends to leave your energy brimming with aliveness well after the class experience.
Lidiya puts strong focus on breath work while drawing awareness within to inspire conscious integration of the physical body and the subtle layer of the mind.
She is an attentive teacher and aims to inspire her students to bring meditation into movement and practice with awareness of the subtle details. It is the subtleties in the practice that help us refine and improve our present moment awareness. Lidiya tailors her yoga sessions in a way to assist the practitioners in finding spaciousness, inner quietness and depth in their practice.
To deepen your inner journey, her classes usually are accompanied with singing bowls sound therapy. With her Restorative and Nidra sessions she aims to awaken her students to the power of conscious rest.
Her Classes Intend To
- explore how to harmonise all aspects of the practice to create a balanced, joyful and transformational experience.
- encourage refinement of awareness of the present moment through paying attention to the subtleties in the practice.
- enliven the energy that already exists within you and leave your mind spacious, clear and invigorated.
- leave the Nervous System balanced and strengthened to reduce mental and emotional distress.

Retreat Reviews
“If only I could relive this week over and over again.. Lidiya is one of the best yoga teachers I’ve encountered in my 16 years of practice. She is thoughtful and attentive, while her joy and expertise are central to her classes. I felt energised after the morning classes and rested after the late afternoon classes, as promised. The hikes around Grazalema were stunning, I slept in a mini dome which was the perfect mix of comfort and camping life. I came solo and left with many new friends. And I can’t review this place without mentioning the stunning grounds around and the delicious food served at every meal. Lidiya has truly mastered the art of recharging for people that like to be active whilst also craving some rest. l’ll be sure to return to Suryalila in the coming years!

“Blown Away!
I recently attended the Yoga and Adventure Retreat with Lidiya and my expectations were blown away. I have had the privilege of attending a handful of retreats around the world, and I have to say this was one of the best experiences so far! Suryalila is exquisite, the food so fresh and delicious and I cannot rave enough about Lidiyas classes. She has something quite special that is difficult to name. Her essence and energy had such a profound effect on me.

“Mid-Autumn Nights Dream
We have just returned from a ‘Yoga and Hiking’ retreat led by Lidiya Petkova at Suryalila. 48 hours later we are still trying to work out weather it really happened or was just a ‘Mid-Autumn Nights Dream’. Such a magical six days with a really lovely group of people where age, background, single or accompanied and all the other usual dividers melted away with the serenity of the surroundings, the delicious and beautifully presented food (we are not normally vegetarian but would defy anyone not to enjoy the variety and quality of food served up at every meal and not to be wanting for anything) and the skill and effort of Lidiya in crafting, engaging and inspiring everyone in a deep and varied program of dynamic and restorative yoga. Our intention at the start of the retreat was nothing more than to enjoy the twice daily yoga sessions and some hiking in the Grazalema National Park, hopefully with the bonus of some autumn warmth/sunshine. By the end of the first full day, it became clear that this retreat was going to provide so much more nourishment on multiple levels and it more than delivered on that every day. We would like to thank all of the staff at Suryalila for everything you did, often quietly in the background, to make this such a pleasant and smooth experience. Our thanks also to all the lovely members of the group; you all in your own ways added so much to our experience. Most of all, thank you Lidiya - you an are a master of your craft and a true professional in the way that you designed and executed the retreat and were always there with a smile, boundless energy and enthusiasm from the start of the day until the end (and at the bottom of the mountain or the top !) We hope to return for reprise (maybe the Yoga Adventure next time) but in the meantime, thank you again for such a memorable and profound experience.
